Hello, summer

The 2010 racing season has been nonexistent. Nonetheless, I've managed to get in many fantastic mountain and road rides, interminable forest runs, time with good friends, and even numerous days on the river. In the general theme of spring, I have been working my rear off on the job with pretty decent results.

Dirty Girls of Brevard finally exist --and with a respectable following.

The bike race drew the biggest crowd EVER (even larger than when it was a MTB National Calendar event in 2008).

Kayaking found its place back in my heart. God it feels good to be on the river again.

Rafting, on the contrary, holds less appeal. If I never guide another commercial rafting trip again, that would be fine. The older I get, the more I value my time and the less I want to spend it with complete strangers I have to entertain in a raft.

I LOVE my river girls. And Brevard women. And all of my friends near and far. xxoo

Running 10 miles off the couch (i.e. no running for 4+ weeks) was surprisingly easy.

Everyone needs a road trip once and a while. We're headed to Durango next week for a brief but highly exciting excursion.
