Retool [definition]: 1. to reorganize something to make it more efficient or poweful. 2. to refit equipment.
Obviously, refitting equipment hasn't been the major focus (although switching bike saddles and adjusting seat height have kind of changed my life). Rather, I have been working on reorganizing myself, in attempts to determine how I can become better, more efficient, stronger. Work has also involved some serious retooling, after the spring Apocalypse. Somewhere along the line I lost my mojo. Maybe it was burnout. Oppressive summer heat factored in, as well did wasting my life away stuck in tourist traffic during commutes. Traveling to Oregon 2 weeks ago set me back on track and actually helped me realize that which I desired and needed in life. Portland was not a good fit for me (or for Thad), as I think we would have been miserable immersed in an urban setting that remains overcast/rainy for 7-10 months of the year. But, I started to see that which I really value. Friends. Family. Mountains. Rivers. A meaningful job in which to direct passion and energy. Challenge. Working hard. A healthy, active lifestyle. New and diverse experiences. Simple living.
But, oh how I love me some Pisgah.
